Spencer logging tapes are excellent for taking tree measurements, either dbh directly or for quickly putting yourself the required distance from the tree to use a clinometer or Relaskop. They are the gold standard, they last forever, need some adjustment occasionally, and the tapes can be replaced when needed. I've used them for 28 years so far.
