- Does this model (C1) calculate height for you (no trigonometry needed) based a know distance and two angles measured ( or % slope) or does it simply measure angles like a traditional clinometer and display those angles digitally? thanks. -rls
- This item will not calculate the height. The angle measurements will be given and the height must be calculated manually like a traditional clinometer. The Haglof EC II Electronic Clinometer will calculate the height from a known horizontal distance.
Reviews
I teach trail design and have these for the students to use to learn to shoot grades. I've had these for a couple years now and have some thoughts on likes/dislikes. Dislikes: the clinometer requires a steady hand, getting the #'s to stop scrolling while taking a reading is difficult. The analogue clinometers use a viscous damping fluid to control the scrolling and it would be helpful to change/add the algorithm so the digital version did the same. Likes; large, backlit, easy to read numbers! Small and lightweight. These are a big deal when you're going to be out all day shooting grades. The wide lanyard is much nicer than the string that comes with other brands. Overall I really like these. I have both the digital and analogue and my students still prefer the analogue, ONLY because of the scrolling issue. Fix that and these will be beyond amazing!
