Council Velvicut Hudson Bay Axe with 24” Hickory Handle
Velvicut axes are produced by the most experienced artisans with the utmost care! The blade is forged from 5160 grade alloy steel for strength, toughness, and durability. In addition, the blade is heat-treated and quenched to produce a hardened edge which is tempered to Rc 52-56. The curved handle is made of grade “A” American Hickory for proper grain orientation and alignment and is mounted to the head in a traditional manner using a softwood wedge crossed with a steel wedge for added security. A Linseed oil coating is applied to protect the handle. The 2 lb. axe head is coated with oil to prevent rusting and to showcase the natural beauty. A leather sheath is included to protect the tool and the user. Sheath is made of premium leather with a buckle for fastening and features an embossed logo. Made in the USA.

Velvicut Hudson Bay 2lb. axe is a wonderful chopper with a thin bit profile, and with hardened poll a wonderful hammer also. This is the one to keep with you when you go working on timbers to trim them, or when chopping trees it cut so easy. The $175 price is a great value. I have had something to do with four of these axes going to relatives and friends. I have many other axes, but might still buy another of these because I don't currently have one, and I miss having it handy with me.
