Description

Gränsfors Bruk Small Forest Axe

Same size as the Hunter’s Axe but features a more traditional pattern and poll. The blade is thin. The handle is long enough to allow powerful chopping, but not too long so it will fit into a rucksack, the back of a car or a boat. Practical for splitting small sticks for the fire or cutting small-diameter limbwood for starter fuel in a fireplace. The axe has a 3-1/4” face and a 19”L hickory handle. The head weighs 1-1/2 lbs. Comes with a grain-leather sheath. Backed by a 20-year manufacturer's warranty.

The small forest axe is an awesome axe! Does a lot of work for it's size! A must have for camping!

The GBA Small Forest Axe is impressive. Forestry-Suppliers sent me a great example and I have enjoyed carrying/using it in the woods. Great factory edge, haft was wedged and aligned tight and to my expectations (even without the metal wedge). The temper has held up well and I have done nothing but strop it after use to get it back to shaving sharp. It does leave you wanting more tool at times but its just the right amount of tool that you will take it everywhere. Just remember to be safe, this one tempts you to test its boundaries!

The small forest axe is a perfect cross between a hatchet and full size axe. It carries well on a back pack or on the belt. I slide it into the molle's on the side of my backpack and its light weight makes it negligible. Good for small work, limbing a down tree and felling small trees in a pinch. Not so much for splitting wood, due to the cut of the head, but it will do it all.
