I have used the Trobridge wax that came in a box for many years; in combination with fabric grafting tape; and it is very effective at sealing graft unions from drying out. As an amateur; I usually use it on rootstock that I have planted in the orchard for a year because I get the highest percentage of takes that way; but it is a chore to use because I have to carry a small camp stove with me to melt the wax. It is my impression that professionals nowadays mostly do budding or grafting with techniques that dont involve wax; but I think the wax is a very good choice for the amateur.
