We use Element 4 mixed with non-Highway diesel to control and eliminate woodlot invasive species on our property in Wi. This is the best product I’ve used and I don’t need to apply multiple times like I have with other products. We highly recommend and mix at 10% for primarily buckthorn.
Used for yrs TSI work, with oil and cidekick II surfactant- basal bark and girdle/spray larger trees. Respect its volatility- i dont spray over 60 degrees if near desirable trees. Less volatile than triclopyr 4 generic, but still it will flash kill seedlngs downwind if over 60 deg
I use this product to treat invasive buckthorn. It really knocks the socks off it. I have used it both as a dormant basal treatment and active growing basal and folliar treatment. It works well by treating one side of the stem 12"-18", for stems 1.5 inches and less. Larger stems i treat all the way around. I have used a surfactant to spread liquid around stem better and improve penetration. It does improve performance. I use a solo sprayer with less than 20# pressure and low volume flat nozzle. Not too much damage to adjacent ground cover if careful with the spray or when done in the dormant season. Very efficient method to control a tough invasive in a diverse environment.
