Works great for pruning white pine! I prefer the longer 390mm blade to cut more with a single stroke, especially on white pine.
The Zubat is the best handsaw I've used; blade stays sharp even with frequent/everyday use. When it eventually dulls the replacement is simple. Love this saw.
I'm not an arborist, just a homeowner who trims trees. I appreciate nice tools and have been curious for some time as to how this Zubat would perform compared to my Samurai Ichiban, which is a great cutting saw. Long story short, in my hands, both saws took the same exact number of strokes to get through the same branch in my sawbuck. Now, it's obvious that the Zubat is a superior saw from a manufacturing standpoint: the handle is nicer, the steel (and finish) on the blade is nicer, the scabbard is nicer, and I suspect the Zubat will hold an edge longer than the Ichiban. I'm comparing performance, period. Having said that, I'm very happy I bought the Zubat.
