This product works well if you can place it out of reach of any birds that maybe attracted to the shiny and soft aluminum. The small birds thinks it is a toy to pick at because it moves in the wind and large birds like crows want to steal them. Either way try to place them lower on the trunk of the tree or at the bottom of the wire fence that surrounds the tree. The soft aluminum will eventually be marked up by birds pecking to the point your identifications will be difficult to read. After one year over 75% of my tags either were pecked apart or completely disappeared. I still like them and now the birds have taught me to either leaf green paint them to eliminate their shiny reflections or attach both ends of the tag with a heavier gauge rust proof wire.

The tag itself works great, it's easy to write with pen or pencil. But I've noticed that the wire with these tags rusts, as opposed to other tags of a similar size I've purchased in the past, so I'm not sure how long they'll last. Also, I prefer the two-hole configuration of the other tags, as it helps to keep the wire attached to the tag before I affix it to the plant.

These tags work well on my perennials. They last, no fading because the writing is pressed into the material.
