I've ordered thousands of the racetrack tags and have been very happy with them. These tags are longer and more visible that the smaller "coin" tags. I use these tags for all of my research trials and will continue to order them in the future. My only complaint is that they are frequently backordered. If you are planning to use these tags for your projects, order them well in advance.
The tags are expensive but necessary for us because we need metal tags that can go through the kiln without damage. My only problem is that the numbers are hard to read, no contrast with the rest of the tag. Much of our material is stored in a large warehouse and lighting is poor, if you shine a flashlight on the tag the numbers disappear.
These aluminum tags have excellent durability - we use them for marking trail distances and trees in permanent forest plots at Project Amazonas field sites in the Peruvian Amazon.
