WaterMark® Quadrafoil Larval Fish Light Trap
Ideal for use in hard-to-sample environments such as wetlands and marshes
Description
WaterMark Quadrafoil Larval Fish Light Trap
Designed for passive sampling of larval fish and macroinvertebrates, this compact, rugged trap is suitable for use in lotic, lentic, and hatchery environments. The trap is comprised of a flotation block, a cloverleaf-shaped array of clear polycarbonate tubes, a center tube that houses a light source such as a chemical lightstick (not included), and a collection assembly. This trap’s sampling method takes advantage of the phototactic behavior of many aquatic organisms by using a bright light to lure organisms inside the cloverleaf array. Organisms are then confined unharmed. As the trap is lifted, the sample is concentrated in a detachable collection basin lined with 250 micron mesh.

I invented this item so many years back and its great to see its evolution. I used it in hatchery ponds to evaluate progress of stocked fish larvae. Now- clearly a much derived product! Secor, D.
