Works well, but color is not very vibrant. Hard to see on wet logs
These work very well on smooth to semi-rough bark (poplar to oak), but are difficult to get a good mark on very rough bark (pine). They do break during use. So keeping them in a sandwich bag helps contain the mess. Once the mark is on the trees it is easily visible and seems to be long lasting.
The problem I have with these paint sticks is that they break very easily. They need some sort of wooden holder like those available for the railroad chalk or the lumber crayons. Those holders are of the wrong size for this stick. There is some support from the thin cardboard sleeve but not nearly enough, and the sleeve is unmanagable while wearing gloves. Get used to carrying broken pieces in your pocket.
