I really like this mount in theory, but in practice it falls a little short. The insects need to be arranged so their backs are up, so you can see their distinctive markings. For the most part, the ones I have are flipped upside down. You can't really appreciate the differences between the backswimmer, boatman, and scavenger beetle as well when you can only see their undersides. Everything is glued down inside as well, so even if you open up the Riker mount box, you can't rotate the glass tubes. Its good for giving the kids an idea of what they're looking for in a microinvertebrate sampling, but not really helpful at all for identification.
