Hands down, one of the best compasses you can buy. Global needle settles quickly, declination adjustment is straight forward, integral case protects the capsule while not in use, and sighting system is fast and accurate. Uses a mirror under the capsule, so you can sight an object with no obstructions. To use the clinometer, you turn the compass sideways and use the mirror and red scale under the capsule. The mirror is stored in the case when not in use and flips out as needed. This compass was originally designed by Recta of Switzerland (purchased by Suunto), and the needle has been modified to settle quicker, and now includes and additional small luminous marker on the black portion that points South. The needle is now plastic, with a larger surface area for faster settling, and the magnet is a ring that allows the needle to pivot along a horizontal axis so that the inclination if the magnetic field does not interfere with the capsule. Includes phosphorescent markings on case/needle
