Reviews
Good little axe as long as you don't expect too much from it. The hudson bay axe is a good little camping axe but you can't expect to split wood or use a lot of force or the handle will break at the inboard end of the head, as mine did. Also, the entire axe handle and axehead were covered in gobs and gobs of varnish. Pain to remove it all and add some boiled linseed oil. I really like the handle shape and length. Worked both single and double handed.
The best axe I've ever owned, fit & finish excellent, balanced head with 2 barrel safety wedges... The best & modern as well...no gaps in head is the result... perfect size handle & ratio weight to head... I cannot use those large gorilla sized axes because of my size & for back pack canoeing so this is IMHO PERFECT!!!! Disregard any junk reviews on the net... THIS IS A REAL AMERICAN MADE AXE WITH A STAMPED HEAD... IT SPEAKS OF QUALITY & TRADITION... Everyone loves a Hudson Bay axe because of its size and ability... If you're looking to buy an axe... here you ARE!!!
This axe lasted my 13-year-old son less than an hour of clearing brush before the axe head bent. I returned it and went with another brand. I would not recommend this axe, and I am glad it didn’t glance off the surface of a log/branch and hurt him. I have pictures of the bend and it’s from the heat treat process not the user.
