Description

Tree Sentry Standard-UV Protected Shelter

Engineered to outperform conventional tree shelters, the Tree Sentry features a unique single-piece, self-staking, cone-shaped design. This self-anchoring shelter comes completely assembled with three integral 8-inch wire stakes for fast, easy installation. The 18-inch high photodegradable translucent polymer base provides filtered sunlight to promote photosynthesis and accelerate root system development. The tapered conical shape protects against large browsing animals, allows for lateral branching of the seedling, and guards against herbicide drift, airborne invasive species, and temperature extremes. Tree Sentry protects seedlings from intense drying winds to preserve moisture while still allowing some wind exposure to strengthen the trunks.

Have a question about this product?

How long is it recommended to leave this on new plantings
For the Tree Sentry Tree Shelters, item 17050, the general recommendation is to leave the shelter in place for at least one full growing season and up to about two years. The shelter helps protect new plantings from animals, wind, and herbicide exposure while the tree establishes roots and begins to thicken its trunk. Most users remove the shelter once the tree has clearly outgrown it, usually after the first or second growing season. It is a good idea to check periodically, as leaving the shelter on too long can sometimes cause rubbing or restriction as the trunk expands.
