Description
Blue-X Tree Shelters, 30”, Pack of 100
Designed to protect seedlings and accelerate early growth, Blue-X Tree Shelters feature patented two-piece construction and create a beneficial microclimate to aid in seedling survival. Each tree shelter is comprised of a single sheet of blue plastic film which is inserted into a blue-tinted poly sleeve. The blue film produces amplified blue light to increase beneficial photosynthetically active radiation and boost tree diameter growth. In addition, the tree shelters block a significant amount of harmful UV light which can damage DNA and hinder growth. The poly sleeve can be removed when the tree shelter is no longer needed, and the plastic film can be stored for reuse. Each tree shelter measures 3-1/2” in diameter and has an outdoor life of 5 years. Price per 100 shelters. Stakes sold separately.

Great product & service! Shipping was fast. The blue x tree shelters are easy to assemble and install. They look nice. Hopefully the trees will benefit from them, although that is yet to be seen. Good price on just what I wanted.
The Blue-X Tree Shelters are excellent! We purchased these for our small apple tree nursery to help protect our saplings and to help them grow. Yes, the "greenhouse" effect that these tubes give is incredible. In one year, our tree saplings grew over 1 foot due to these tubes. Our homestead highly recommends them. We use strong stakes driven into the ground next to our trees to hold the tubes. We then use zip ties to hold the tubes to the stakes. We live in Central Illinois and get strong winds during the winter and summer storm. So far, these tubes have lasted 3-4 years! Highly recommend!
While other brands are unquestionably easier to install, they are cost prohibitive for larger plantings. Assembling the BlueX tubes is time consuming but easy. I had a poor first experience, and all the 48" tubes bent in half in strong winds on the sch 40 PVC stakes, even though they were zip tied to the stakes. I switched it up and put tube over the stake with the tree seedling and zip tied. Perfect with zero issues since. I use a paper hole punch to punch holes for the zip ties when assembling. While other brands are easier to install and of more rigid material, the extra effort needed with the BlueX is worth it for the big cost savings.
