LAB-AIDS Dendrochronology Classroom Kit
By using specially designed simulated tree cores, students develop a basic knowledge of the principle of tree ring dating. Students will also discover the important effects of the climate on living things as they unravel secrets about the age and history of trees through core samples. Lab activities allow students to determine the age of trees, compare wet and dry years relating them to chronological events in their own lives, attempt to establish the year when a piece of lumber was cut and when it started growing, and develop a better understanding of the tree-ring dating principles. Recommended for grades 5 through college. Contains enough material for unlimited classes with 12 groups of 2 students.
