I have used and own different types of sling psychrometer and this is a little bigger that the others but that makes it easier to read the thermometer. It also seems like you get faster and more accurate readings with a mercury thermometer. It would be worth it to me for a few extra dollars; if the manufacturers would build a case for it; nothing fancy just for protection. Otherwise this is the best sling psychrometer I have used.
