After looking at other reviews; I ordered 6. 1 for each of us to use; and a back up for each of us. The declination setting is a very nice feature. I'm used to using a lensatic compass but my wife and daughter aren't. The direction dial is nice and tight. The other features on the compass make map reading almost too easy. This compass is a winner. SIDE NOTE : I called in before ordering with a few questions. They were friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. Thanks

Great compass, easy to use with several great features. I chose not to use the black piece that attaches the lanyard to the compass. Tossed it and used a girth hitch. Not worried now about it pulling free and losing my compass. Luminous bezel great in low light conditions.

The azimuth ring is much tighter than the past Silva Rangers I have used; leading to less error. Also the ring is very easy to read for those of us w/ older eyes ;-) The only down side is the lack of instruction on how to use the accesories
